Mini Toggle or Push/Pull

I have a Blackout Nashville style Tele with 5 position switch. As you know this setup does not allow Bridge and Neck or all 3 pickups to be selected. I want to modify the switching to add these selections. I've have wiring diagrams to do this.

I'd like to know what you guys prefer - a mini toggle or a push/pull switch? And why.

Will a push/pull switch fit in the control cavity?

Thanks

Bob

Hi I,m building a nashville style guitar now so I am interested in watching this thread as I plan my wiring. As far as your question I use push pulls to split some humbuckers so I can say guitar fetishes will fit in 1 1/2 deep telecaster control cav. I liked the fact there was no need to drill for a switch.I've seen them between volume and tone seem that would be a little tight.

I used a toggle on the nashville i just built, mainly for 2 reasons... the simplicity of the wiring, and fenders website where the schematic calls for a toggle on the old version of the American Deluxe Tele.
Push-pulls would be a cleaner look, but i find the toggle has never gotten in the way.

I'd go toggle, nice and simple!

I have several guitars with push-pull pots, and that always works well for me. Very clean, uncluttered look.

Back in the day, you could get a Yamaha pot that was PUSH-PUSH. Don't know if those are even available any more, but it was very cool. No yanking; just pushing.

I have a mini-toggle wired up to take my tone knob out of the circuit (500K's, so no no-load pots). It sits well in the space between the two knobs and that's where it's easiest to wire, too. I think it's much easier to switch than a push-pull pot.

My main Tele has............

two mini Gibson humbuckers in the neck and middle slots and a Duncan "Hot Rails" humbucker in the bridge position. I have my control plate reversed with the volume knob in the front. It has three mini toggle switches instead of a 5 way selector which are much more convenient to operate. Down they're on, up they're off. I also have another mini toggle between the volume and tone controls which is a coil tap for the Duncan bridge pickup. Last but not least is a pull pot volume control which when in the up position is a coil tap.......A very functional guitar to say the least.........Here's a shot if I can get it to come up.........JH in Va.

Thank you for the ideas. I did think that the mini would be easier to wire and install. Was concerned that it might be in the way. Good to hear that some think it is not in the way.

J Hayes: interesting ideas.

Thanks

Bob
