How to remove rust on polepieces?

Just picked up a Tele with rust on the pole pieces?
How to remove?

Get some very light sandpaper, like 600 grit and carefully clean it off. Steel wool will work but it sticks to the magnets.

Also one of the non-retractable Ink pens w/ the hard Grey eraser works quite well, and just leaves a little harmless rubber dust, which you can blow away.

I have a '63 Custon Shop Tele Relic that APPLIED rust to the pole pieces. Funny!

After cleaning apply some clear nail polish.
