Identity of old "weird" Tele Bridge pu - double coil

Hello,

does someone know the brand or anything else about this pickup?

I bought it together with lots of other broken pickups, some working some not.

This one is quiet unusual, it has two coils. It has 5 conductors, green, white, black, red and a not isolated ground wire. DC-resistance is 16.04 kOhm both coils (green/red), 8.06kohm upper coil(red/black) and 8.03kohm lower one (white/green). The upper coil has staggered 0.193'' diameter magnets, the lower coil non at all. I don't know, if this makes sense . I never tested this pu in a guitar. I think, they gone lost . Another detail is the metal plate on the bottom/sides of the upper coil, it looks as if it was glued to the top of the lower coil.

I will be very happy about any information about this pickup,

best regards
Till A

I think that this might just be a pup hack job.. someone lost the springs to mount the pup at the bridge at some point and instead of replacing them he took a broken pup and hacked them together to get it to the right height from the bottom of the route..

my take at least :P

Given the plate between the two coils that's definitely a pickup designed to be noiseless. I just don't know what it could be.

That looks Like a Dimarzio stack construction, I have one here for a Strat on the table, two pieces looks like they may have been waxed together but are now separate. I pulled this from the bridge of a 73 S to replace the original that was ( luckily ) kept in the case.

You might be right, the Tele "baseplate" construction looks quiet selfmade

Michael, what guitars is a "73 s", 1973 Stratocaster ?

To all viewers: Is it possible at all, that the lower coil gives a signal to the amp without having pole-pieces / magnets.

Best regards,
Till

I'd be glad to take real pictures with my camera tonight and email them to you if you send me your e-mail in a PM. ( I just pulled this apart and did it with my cell phone to show you it was the same, it also doesn't day Dimarzio on the bottom, it says it inside the cover it mounted in. ) The bottom coil most likely is just reverse wound and helps cancel out hum produced in the local environment.

Yes 1973 Stratocaster, Pup from the 80's I believe...

Hi Michael,
thanks for your welcome and also the quick reply.
Sorry, I haven't seen immediately, that you've already made a picture of your pickup. There's no need for a second one - that is the same kind of pickup, just with this Telecaster bridge baseplate.
Only one question left: Does your pickup has magnets in the lower coil (if you can see that)?

Best regards

Till A
