Question about 8 hole- 5 hole pickguard.
I made a Partscaster last year. At that time I put a modern 8 hole pickguard on with the neck pickup mounting screw holes. Now I've decided that a Black traditional Bakelite 5 hole pickguard would look better. My question is, How do I mount the neck pickup to the body without drilling pickup mounting holes in my new 5 hole pickuard? With all the experience around here I'm sure that someone else has done this before. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, |

1. Remove the pickup from the 8-hole pickguard.
2. Lay the pickup in the cavity and use a scribe or sharpened nail to mark the pickup hole location in the floor of the cavity. 3. Determine the proper size wood screws and drill pilot holes in the cavity. This requires that you pay attention so you don't drill through the back of the body. 4. The two screws go through the pickup base plate, through rubber tubing or springs and into the wood.
