Tone Cap Location
Can someone explain the difference in tone control when you wire a tone cap from the tone pod to the tone pod versus from the tone pod to the volume pod?

Typically the cap goes from one of the tone pot's lugs to a ground point. This ground point is typically the back of one of the pots. It doesn't matter which they connect to.
The stock wiring diagram shows the cap going from the tone pot's middle lug to the outside lug on the volume pot...which is then connected to the pot body (the ground point). This is the same as above. |
