Please suggest an online store for capacitors and electrical components.

I've Googled the heck outta the interwebs trying to find an online store that sells capacitors and resistors that I need for some wiring projects.

The reason I can't go to a conventional guitar parts place is because the caps I'm trying to get are not conventionally used in guitars, therefore are not offered in those stores.

Also, I am in Canada, so cheap international shipping is a big plus.

I found one store I thought was great, but they wanted $30 shipping for an order that would have been under $10... lol

Have you tried Mouser or Digikey? No idea about international shipping, but they have darn near everything.

What caps are you wanting to use that aren't normally used in guitars?

and a 3K resistor

The .0047 is the one I have the hardest time trying to find. Regular guitar parts places don't seem to have these. May as well get all the caps from one place I figure.

Checked out Mouser, they ship internationally at reasonable rates. Thanks for the sugestions

I didn't check the international shipping but for the states they're cheap.

Also, for the .005uf, use a .0047uf or a .0068uf.

Here is the best deal I have found on capacitors. They support all your capacitance needs you listed above.

Web-tronics.com

No affiliation.

I deal with Mouser mostly, because we also purchase many other repair parts. They stock Bourns and Alps pots, which are excellent for guitar, as well as caps by Xicon, Vishay/Sprague and Cornell-Dubilier et al. However, there are MANY places to purchase these items on the web.

www.futurlec.com sells value packs that include those values for cheap. Mylar caps though.

Mouser!

Just ordered some odd-ball spec electrolytic caps earlier this week to recap my Music Man amp. I was able to charge my Visa in CAD and USPS postage was only $8. I'll report back on delivery time when it arrives.

I use an eBayer that I have found fantastic, reasonable, and carries very hard to come by capacitors among other things for electronics.

http://myworld.ebay.com/audiograde/

Check this out, and he combines shipping VERY reasonable pricing, not enough good things to say about it really.

I've got stuff from these guys before http://www.partsconnexion.com/

Not always the best prices but if you factor in exchange and shipping, not so bad.

+1

If you can't find it at Mouser or Digikey, it probably can't be found.

Antique Electronics is very good too.

I just got a small order from these guys (less than $40) and the shipping was reasonable (USPS/Canada Post). Also, as a manufacturer's sample there were no additional charges.

I get electronic parts from all over the place. I've never found any one place that sells everything. Sometimes I buy the Sprague Orange Drops - sometimes I need the SoZo - sometimes just a straight polyester cap. That doesn't even get into the switches, pots, output transformers, tubes, wiring, etc.

It's a real headache alright. There are a few guitar specialty stores online that will sell a lot of stuff - but damn they make you pay out the crappy for it.

I will end up going with these guys. Just workedout that they had some other parts I needed, their cart was easy to use and shipping is only $6.95.

Thanks for all the responses, keep 'em coming, there may be others that had the same question I did...

Why don't you call these guys in your home town?

Radio Shack
Grant Park Shopping Centre,
Winnipeg, MB R2C 0A1
(204) 452 2194

I see on line that RS carries 0.0047 cap you are looking for and others you have listed.

This could be a lot faster and cheaper for you.

I have two Shack's very close by and they're just above worthless for parts...parts trays are disorganized and hard to find the right caps/resistors with the right values.

I remember years ago when Radio Shack was THE place...but now they seemed to be more concerned with marketing RC cars, cell phones, and Sat TV subscriptions.

YMMV

I'll have to second this. Radio Shack in Canada is now known as "The Source by Circuit City", and we all know what's happening to CC...

The one closest to me (not the Garden City location incidentally) is much like what was described above. The only capacitors they sell are the bundle pack or whatever it's call, 100 various uf's in a pack.... no thanks. I did get some wire there so they were able to help in that dept.
