New Esquire Assembly
Hello everyone, 1st post. After playing my one and only tele since '80 I decided I must have an Esquire. Here it is! Body from Jaydog, neck, bridgeplate, compensated saddles from Glendale. Pickup is a Don Mare triple tapped Stingray with a push/pull tone pot bypass. Pickguard and the rest of the hardware from Callaham. I played a gig last night with it and got about 20 compliments. I love it! Oh yeah it weighs in at 6lbs 4ozs (had it weighed at my local Post Office) hope the pic's do it justice.

TeleMike,
How do you like that Glendale neck? I have been thinking about one, but I just can't convince myself that it is worth the money. That with his pine body = drool! Jason |

Welcome, Mike!
She sounds absolutely top drawer in every way. Normally I like a little understatement in neck figure but that composition with that great baby blue just blows me away!

thanks everyone for your kind words. Millhouse, the glendale neck is very nice, I ordered it back in the summer when his price was lower and our dollar was at par with U.S. so I thought I'm only gonna build this one, go all the way. Rothnroll, A local auto painter who happens to build some beautiful acoustic guitars painted it for me. It's called "spectramaster blue" btw I have the tint no's if you are interested. The bone nut had a slight harmonic overtone on the E .10 string when played open. I'll get it looked at whenever I can put it down long enough! LOL......Mike....thanks again to Don Mare for the Stingray pup...it's like having 3 different pup,s in 1 guitar!

Mike, How do you like the pine body? I have one on the way a pine nocaster body made by Musikraft. I have a 1972 Telecaster neck and neck plate to go with it and JM Rolph is building me a set of aged broadcaster pickups. How does the pine sound compaired to alder or a ash body ?
Nice build, Best regards, Steve. |

I'll add and opinion about pine. I built 2 Pine casters over the summer out of approx 35 year old reclaimed pine. One Deluxe and a regular Tele. Due to the wood I got, these are 1-9/16" along the lines of the Glendale offering and the original Tele Protos. If I was to characterize pine sound of these I made as compared to alder or a ash, I'd say it has more honk and pop than alder. Like some very light airey sounding swamp ash teles I have played/heard. YMMV
I should add that @ 1-9/16" Thick, and under 3 lb per body, I was/am quite pleased with the full projecting pop and honk of the projects tone as finished instruments. I can not emphasize how nice it is to have a 5.9 lb Tele that kick major ars in the tone department. The Deluxe is 6.4 lb. Link to Pic of the piney pair |

robt57, Thank you for the reply it is good to know. I played a set back in 1980 with a 1950 Broadcaster and loved the sound I would say it was around five to six pounds max.
Regards, Steve. |

I think Mike's color (thanks for the info!) is stronger than even the G + L Baby Blue shown here: ![]() And Daphne Blue is a good bit more subdued than that. IMO. I'm hoping Mike will shoot and post more pictures. THIS is the kind of blue Fender should be painting their blue guitars, not Electron Blue.

Nice build.
I was THIS close to posting my first build - an Esquire as well... so much for that! I going to plug the Mare Trips in mine this summer. That glendale neck looks great. Great build. |
