Wood Supplier?

Any builders out there know of a good source of raw mahogany, maple and rosewood, long enough for neck blanks? Thanks in advance.

Stew Mac sells it, too.

I know of a few suppliers of bulk quantities, but for that you want something local. Shipping costs more than the wood.

Stew-Mac only sells blanks...in other words, its already planed, sanded, squared, and jointed (as in a two-piece body blank) when you get it.

For that matter, I think that's mostly what LMI sells too.

I need the raw lumber itself, for building a multi-ply laminated neck (and body .... at somepoint). I need to be able to plane it, sand it, joint it and glue it up myself.

I've not even priced it out yet, so you may be right, as far as shipping would cost more than the wood. I may have to look locally.

Well how much are you wanting?

I have a local supplier for kiln-dried hardwoods. They have maple and mahogany -- no rosewood, though. They usually have some nice birdseye or flame maple, too.

Problem is, you'd have to buy it in at least 4/4 thickness around 6-8" wide, and from 10 to 12 feet long.

Most of the figured maple has already been surfaced, as well.

Yeah - I guess I need to look locally.

Yeah - that's exactly what I need. I need to glue up several neck blanks at once. I should probably just look for a local source.

I've got my buds at Gibson looking for a source for me too.
