What neck pickup for bell-like, Jeff Buckley tone?

I just got the new Squier CV Tele. Awesome axe for the money but I want to put a better neck P/U in there. I love Jeff's chimey sound. Any suggestions? Can't be too expensive.

Thanks.

I'd say pretty much any moderate output neck pickup will get you there.
Amp is kinda more important in this case.

He used a Vibroverb and either a Mesa Tremoverb or a Blue Angel.
He had some rack effects as well.

When I had the Texas Special Neck pup I loved it. But go to GFS and get a couple for the price of that. Big Buckley fan here too

Another Buckley fan here ...

The early '80's Tele he used was fitted with an aftermarket pickup, a Carvin S60T-B single coil blade in the bridge pos. As far as I know it was a standard '80's neck pickup.

Good luck

Take a look here:

go to this site, click on the pic to enter, click on the "Music" tab and scroll down to gear. A rundown of Jeff's guitar's and amps, etc.

The stock pickups are pretty nice...maybe try adjusting the pickup height and look at your amp settings.

The neck pickup in the CV Tele doesn't seem to be adjustable. Anyone have any tips on that?

No probs. The twang king's got that Buckley-esque chime in spades, and its not much coin either. And it'll work great in an array of applications too.

As for the CV, the neck PU would be mounted to the body with screws (ala 50s style teles), so you just need to remove the pickguard to get to it.

Adder

The Adder T3 is a special neck pickup, worth a try for this sound, it's like a grand piano through the right amp.

I find that my stock neck pick is pretty close to the Jeff Buckley sound in Hallelujah. Maybe you just need to adjust height and play withy our amp a little more. But I have an american tele. Pickups much different than squires?
