Tele Sunburst Refin question

I have a older tele that was pro- refinished years ago in traditional nitro 2 tone sunburst. (I am *not* talking about the guitar in my garage sale ad if someone gets suspicious, but it looks a lot like it!) Is it possible to strip a sunburst finish and get it back to a pseudo-"natural" finish, like Springsteen's esquire or Keith Richards' tele? Does the fact that it is a sunburst finish make this more difficult? Thanks a lot for your help!

Lacquer is your friend.Acetone will do the job perfectly.
Dont be shy w/ it & of course use protection.
Sunbursts dont require much more work than any
other color.
