Baritone Tele.... E To E tuning? Warmoth conversion etc.

Hello, I'm really thinking of a Tele (Baritone).. I have all the Hardware and Body, I'm ready to go.
My original Idea was a Jerry Jones 6 string bass , it is E to E with a 30" scale.... The strings JJ uses are 84-24. It's ment to be one octave below Standard.

The Warmoth Baritone neck is 28 5/8" ... Most use this neck with an A for the low string.. I Think? I would like to tune it like the Jerry Jones...

I imagine I would need heavier strings then the JJ to get the string tension correct on the warmoth? Is there certain set's on the market that would be good?

Any Experience and help would be great..... I would hate to learn the "hard way". Thanks again

From what I understand, the Bari is tuned B to B. I got that from Larry at WD.

I converted my MIM 50's Classic into a Baritone with a conversion neck from Warmoth. I tune it A to A.

If you want to do an E to E thing, I suggest you call Tommy at USA Custom Guitars. They make a Baritone VI body and matching 30" scale neck to do E to E.

E to E is just a bass...right?

A guitar tuned E to E, one octave below standard...wouldn't that just be a standard 6 string bass? I think that once you get that low, you lose the appeal and character of a true baritone (B to B, or A to A).

A real baritone gets as low as you can get, and still have chords blend well and not get muddy. Low E to E, on any scale neck, gets too muddy to be effective as a baritone.

I've got the Jerry Jones Neptune Short-horn Baritone, and I usually tune it B to B. This is the best real baritone ever made in my opinion.

A standard Bass is Two octaves below The guitar tuning........ Warmoth said " E to E would not be a good idea with this scale length". With this said Jerry Jones still makes those 6 string (TIC-Tac) bass guitars That are ment to be strung E to E one octave below the standard guitar. I may try one some day? Thanks again

Jerry Jones Baritone

Mine is tuned E to E and is just right. The string guage allows for chording as well as bass lines and single note solos.

No, a standard 6-string bass is typically tuned B to C (or B to B) which is a good bit lower than E to E.
