Pots and Caps?

I'm wiring a 69 RI MIM Thinline ebay'r parts guitar, I've looked at so many wiring diagrams and the wiring is straight forward, but almost every wiring diagram has a differant CAP Value.

I have 250 pots, stock re-issue neck PU, with a hot 3 bridge, all fender.
can someone help me on how to determimne what the correct CAP value might be.

Thanks

If you don't already have a general idea from other builds or mods, I suggest an .047 as a starting point. That's what Fender uses on most Teles. I bought some in .022, .033, .047 and .1 to experiment with. For a while I was liking the .022 and .033 depending on how the Tele sounded, but more recently I've been preferring an .047.

Here's one place you can buy some online. Radio Shack is a good place for getting them locally where I live.

OK, so do I have an assortment of CAPS. I'm maybe not understanding their affects totally, I am assuming it is a tone issue, small value =?
larger value =?

This is my lame-mans version and possibly an oversimplification, but here goes: with a larger value cap the treble decreases more for the same amount of turning the tone knob away from max treble.

Higher value = darker sounding, essentially.

Great info guys, so basically I'll just need to experiment until I find what is music to my ears. Now I know which way I need to go with my adjustments.
I think I'll start with a .022, about mid point and go from there.

Thanks Again

You could start with no cap just to see what the pups actually sound like.

In essence the cap does not come into play until you turn the tone control to the 'bass' side.
