Neck Cover - Shielded Wiring
In installing my new neck pup, I disconnected the cover from the negative to have a series connection. I then also realized that my wires were too short to go to the control cavity (its a used pup). So I need to add some additional wire.
I was planning on desoldering the wires from the pup and replacing them with shielded 24 gauge wire. In doing so I will need to solder the ground shield wire. At the neck end, can I solder the cover ground to the shield ground wire? I also was planning on lining the neck cavity with shielding tape, can I solder the shielding tape to the cover and to the shielding wire? It seems logical enough, but I figured Id ask. Thanks |

Unless you're a soldering guru, I'd advise you to just splice the wires as it is extremely easy to damage the pup beyond repair (Don't you dare ask me how I know!).
The cover is a shield so your idea is OK. |
