Cloth Wire Question
Does anyone know what gauge wire was used back in the day for the cloth covered wire between the pups and the pup switch? I think the wire that is on my pups right now is really thin; probably 18-20 AWG, maybe even 22.
My thought is putting in some heavier gauge wire for the connections to reduce resistance.

I believe Fender used 22 for guitars and amps.
I really doubt you'll hear a big difference in load-down when going with bigger wire. No-Load Tone pots are often not even noticed when some folks put them in. In any case, you may want to consider stranded wire as solid core can break with repeated bending. |

Page 60 of the Duchossoir book has a bridge pickup blueprint from 1965. It specifies the pickup leads to be 22 guage stranded wire.
