Welcome!
That's too bad about the neck. Here's what I'd do. I'd check www.guitarsbyleo.com and see what you can learn there. One fellow there is called Darth Invader; that's really Mr. Dave MacLaren, and he's the go-to guy at G + L guitars for creating happy customers. Especially if you bought your G + L guitar new, he might possibly offer to get you a replacement neck in less time and for less money that I could get one there for one of mine, just because I want a fatter neck or something. That is really the only place to go; there isn't any aftermarket maker of G + L necks. His hands might be tied, as he's got to make sure he isn't messing with fulfilling warranty and production demands; that needs to come first. It sure couldn't hurt to try. He may expect you to send him the broken USA G + L neck. Fully understandable since nothing would transform a low cost G + L Tribute into a world class guitar like a USA G + L neck. If I had had a source for these USA necks at less than full cost ($$$), there's at least 5 Tributes I have bought and just changed out the neck. Good luck.

BB is right about contacting the Guitars by Leo website for a genuine G&L neck. However, any aftermarket Tele neck should work if you would like to try a different shape. Contrary to popular wisdom, I've used a G&L neck on a Tele body and vice versa, without any problems.

Rick ................ very interesting. You've put a 21 fret aftermarket Fender neck on a G&L which originally had a 22 fret neck and every thing was copacetic .............. very interesting.

I have one from about a '93 ASAT Classic that I'd probably sell. PM me or e mail if you want more details. I tried to get a replacement for mine a year or so ago thru G&L and it was no deal. Not direct to me or to a dealer where I'd just bought a new custom ASAT Classic. Seemed to me like they didn't want their necks winding up on partscasters but that's just a guess. (a lot of folks don't like the headstock profile anyway) |

My understanding is that if you simply want a different neck or profile you're SOL and have to search Ebay or for a parts guitar but if your neck was actually damaged beyond repair you could send the guitar to G&L and pay them to put a new neck on it.
I'm with Jwells on this one. I thought that if you tried to bolt a Fender neck onto a G&L body you would have to leave a gap the size of the 22nd fret between the butt of the neck and the pocket and that if you bolted one onto a Tele body your scale length increased because the nut got shoved farther out. I guess I could actually measure one of my Teles and Asats to compare the nut to heel length. |
