Cocked wah esquire wiring?

anyone recommend me a good wiring diagram?

and recommend me caps and resistors?

go here: Esquire wiring

follow directions for the last diagram... I believe that's the one. I use Sprague orange drop .047 caps with pretty good results... you can get those on ebay.

Anyone validate?

so do you swap out both 0.05 caps and swap them for two 0.47's?

No, for the cocked wah sound you need to replace the .050 cap that goes from from the volume pot to the switch to a .010 or something similar. I use a .010.

and .05 caps and .047 caps are virtually the same thing. I had a site that I got a whole bunch of caps off of for cheap. I'll see if I can find it again.

okay here's where I got my caps. Just make sure to watch your zeros. They have a lot of different values. So for this esquire you will want a .047 and a .01.

I've used that except with a .022 cap for the fixed, works great!

Just put in an order in for some stuff i wanted on specialist guitars, and i threw in a couple of .47's, and by chance put in a couple of .01's aswell! woot!!

so what one needs to be the 47 and which one of the 01? cheers for the help guys.

Here you go... one more thing though. Be careful when using this diagram. The stagger of the switch lugs will most likely be different than what you have. So don't go by the stagger just go by the sides of the switch and you'll be fine.

just went to start the wiring following this diagram, but the switch is round the wrong way.....the way my selector is set, the points on the bottom end of it are further up than the points at the top, unlike the switch?

how do you set the wiring? just the same?

Exactly. Don't go by the stagger. Just follow the diagram with the sides of the switch and ignore the stagger. It won't look as pretty as the diagram.

Yup yup yup, +1 to the Orange drops, I've got them in all of my Teles

They're cheap and do the job. I tried the 0,1 uf some while ago but I've stuck with the 0,47 (by the way, 0,50 was the old value, 0,47's are exactly the same) ;)

I have this configuration on mine with the exeption of a .0033uf cap from lug #5 to ground, which is a slightly brighter cocked wah type sound for pos#2. I still have the .010uf cap for pos#1 as outlined above, so I basically have two colors in addition to the tone control on pos#3, which can of coarse provide wide open to very dark.
IMO the .0033uf cap is still bright enough to be almost neck or neck/bridge type color (excellent for crunchy arpegios & chords), while the .010uf is better suited to lead stuff, both will do the cocked wah lead thing.
