5-way switch on 52RI?
I was thinking about a 5-way on my 52RI. You can get the "middle" sound by straddling the 1 and 3 positions on the vintage wiring, but how about straddling the 2-3 position to get a mix of the neck and "dark" neck sounds?
I tried this with the 3-way switch, and it was very scratchy, but it worked. Does anyone know how I could use a five-way switch to get these combos? 1. Bridge only 2. Bridge/neck 3. Neck only 4. Neck/dark neck 5. Dark neck only I think the dark neck tone is different than the neck with the tone rolled off, that's why I'd like to preserve it. Also, the neck/dark neck setting that I was getting by stradling the 2-3 postions was pretty cool. Thanks in advance. Pictures and diagrams WELCOME. |

What you've asked for is somewhat similar to the Donohue switching. There's a user on this site called Deaf Eddie. Do a search for posts by him and maybe send him a PM. He's a bit of a whiz at working out combos, and I've used his regular 5-way switch mod and it's a winner.
