Paint !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've just bought a telecaster, everything ok, but the paint is black :/ I don't like the color and obviously I want to paint it different. Some friends tell me that painting the guitar reduces it's value, but, I think that if I send to a specialized person, it could be good. Who should I send my guitar to paint? (I live in Austin Texas)

First off, welcome! Next, I must inform you that the "price of admission" around these parts is pictures - c'mon, lets see your new geetar! Also, how about a story? It's black ... if'n you don't like black, there must be a story.

I really don't know how to upload pictures to the replied post, but I have them in my computer.

There's no story actually! I find black in guitars a little...simple, to ordinary.

It might actually be more cost effective to buy a new body in the color you want (maybe off eBay or from one of the other online suppliers). Then when it arrives, take your black body and sell it to recover some of the cost.

Or find an autobody shop that does custom paint... maybe a motorcycle shop in the area?

The other thing is to drop by a local guitar store and see if they have anybody on file.

Last but certainly not least, there are a number of guys who post here who might be willing to do it for you as well. Check through some of the recent build threads and you will see some very fantastic results!

You might try looking through the "Musical Instruments" section of your local Craig's List.

I know I have seen several advertising here in the Tampabay area, it's free for them and they probably get a few clients in this way. Heck even the local authorized Fender guitar and amp repair service puts an ad in occasionally.

As for using pictures here on the forums, nothing could be more simple. First, get yourself an account at PhotoBucket - it's free! Then, once you have some pics in an album, just click on "IMG Code" for the pic you want to display and the code will be copied to your clipboard, you can then paste this into your message (CTRL+V). The images you use should be 600 px or less in width so as not to mess the forum layout and your limited to 3 images per message - but you can post multiple messages.

Don't thank me for this info, thank jwells393, he showed me the ropes on posting pictures here. And remember, if you read something he says, ask yourself if you really want to ignore an expert's advice...

Send it to our own Buckocaster51 for some Silver Sparkle ala the other Buck's Tele ;) He might could leave the black o the edges for a Faux binding...
