One-piece body on 52 RI?

Is that possible? I'm thinking of buying one locally and it looks like a one piece body to me. Does fender put veneers on the 52 RI?

The grain looks like the type that's on the top left corner of this SG:

What I mean is that the grain is not running parallel with the guitar so it would be impossible to match more than one piece.

One piece body on '52 RI? ............. Very unlikely. I saw one in a local store that that was three pieces. You'd probably have to go Custom Shop to get a one piece. The way to check is to look for joint lines on the butt end of the guitar.

Don't obsess about one piece bodies and the like. If it sounds good it is good. Almost no Fenders made on the line have single piece bodies, including the classic ones. Leo most likely chose the 'blond' semi-transparent paint as the scandinavians did so he could show the figure while still hiding the joins. They're very good at hiding joins with a bit more paint.
