Tainted by capitalism! (pink, pink, pink)

Somehow I went to Fred Meyer for a hammer and General Tsao's chicken and came back with two cans of this:

except it had a dainty pink cap. BUY BUY BUY! PINK PINK PINK!

I am having a few second thoughts, because the body in danger of pink was originally going to be stained walnut. Still... pink... I am becoming weak...

Funny you should mention "Ballet Slipper" Krylon. I just finished building a BS pink esquire yesterday. However, after I pinked the body with Krylon, I shot the entire body with pink metal flakes and clear coated it with Deft. The flakes are so dense that you cannot tell the base coat is Ballet Slipper pink, but before I put the flakes on it the Krylon color looked good. That color is a true light pink and does not have the yellow/orange component that shell pink or coral pink have.

Caveat--if you are going to clear coat with lacquer, make sure you are using old formula Krylon. The new formula with the fancy tip is enamel and is not compatable with Deft or other lacquers.

Here's my pink leaning against walnut stained alder doors.

I say stain the guitar, and paint the pickguard pink.

Well, okay... but don't be asking later about spandex and poofy hair....

I think you're gonna like this idea until about 5 seconds before you go out the door to a gig and you're gonna stop, close one eye and put it back in the rack.

Good tips, spankdplank. I will check out the composition tonight.

You presume, sir, that I still hope to retain the merest shred of personal dignity. I thank you, but I must inform you that my dignity is a thing of the past.

However, you have a point. These things always look good on paper/computer screen, yet real life is another experience.

I'm dying to wear a Chicago Blackhawks jersey to a gig... but, I never actually get out the door in it... it ain't dignity.. heck, if I had dignity I wouldn't go out of doors! It is about being able to 'pull it off'....

Only you know for sure... I know I couldn't do it. I admire those who can.

Like bubblegum! Or sweaty slippers. Who can tell anymore?

My girlfriend likes the color. She thinks I need to track down a red or pink sparkle pickguard... the only catch is that I want to make it a 72 custom style. Any tips? Who carries something that absurd? I know a lot of places will cut a pickguard out of any material they carry.

MSG

I'm thinking the MSG in the Chinese Food got to you and you were craving sweets. Pink became the desert........... as it were.

Actually, Teles were born in the 50's. Any 50's color looks good on them. They were designed with the mind set prevalent then so if you look at old photos you got your pink Cadillacs with white tops. My next door neighbor had a two tone 53' Buick, pink and black, like a box of Good'n Plenty with a black and white interior.

I say be brave and be pink with a vengeance

Some pinks look good , and others are incredibly yucky fugly .
It kinda depends on taste .
I like shell pink etc , but the barbie type pinks not so much .

If it was me, I'd take the can of BS pink back to Freddie's and order a can of this :

http://reranchstore.stores.yahoo.net/coral.html

$16 plus shipping, and you've still got your dignity intact.

;)

Wow - with my vote, you're right at 50/50 on the pink vs. walnut thing. Now generally I'm on the same page with your wacky ideas, fuzzferatu... but.. pink?
