switch question

every single diagram ive seen for a tele has an 8 lug switch, in 2 rows
i have a 3 position switch with 6 lugs, in 2 rows. could this work?

If the switch is an open type you should be able to move the switch positions while examining the lugs on the side and the swiper. I'd say the switch is fine since in most standard tele wiring you have two lugs unused. It's just a matter of figuring out how to wire it up.

Which switch?

We need to see a picture of the switch to give really GOOD advice, but I'll take a stab:

If it's one of these import switches, YES:



If it's an ON/ON/ON toggle switch, it could work:



If it's an on/OFF/on toggle, forget it.

theres the side. 3 positions. pretty small



sorry about the awful quality. these came off my phone, i dont have an actual camera. its the lugs each side as shown. i dont remember what purpose this originally served, but all 3 on one side are soldered together

So, is it on/on/on, or on/OFF/on? Test the lugs with a meter and tell us what you get.

For my money, you're wasting your time trying to use some weird piece of hardware rather than a "REAL" pup selector - unless for some reason that's the only switch that fits...

I say fagitaboudit. Throw that switch away and get a new one. Grizzly sells a quality 3-way switch for around $6.
