What sized allen wrench for vintage saddles?
I've lost the allen wrench/key that I use to raise/lower the height of vintage saddles (on a strat).
Does anyone know the diameter of the allen key so I can order a new one? (And possibly the best place to buy one) Much obliged, Jim |

AVR usa ?.....Mexican ?....Asian ?....Aftermarket ?....there are a bunch of different ones....I would just purchase a couple of sets of Allen wrenches....One metric....one fractional.

I bought both metric and imperial sets- the smallest wrench of both are still too large for the saddles. I bought a Fender vintage trem- the same that goes on a US '62 reissue.

Do you have an .050"? I think that's the standard place to start. I'm pretty sure that;s what my old ones use. I have no idea about reissues.

+1 on the .050" being the most likely size. The saddles on my American Standard and Highway One Strats both take the .050" but the Fishman powerbridge (tele style) has different setscrew sizes. Even though it's expressed as a decimal, you'll find .050" as the smallest wrench in an English/Imperial (Inch) set. I glued a broken one into a hole on the back of the handle of one of those tiny screwdrivers so it's easier to reach for (and harder to mix it up with the other sizes that accumulate for things like knob setscrews and trem-setter setscrews).

Sets of metrics always seem to have the small metric one, as used on the MIM Standard. The Imperial sets usually don't have the .050 which is what is needed. I didn't mind buying both full sets anyway, especially all the smaller ones. Katrina kinda took care of my old ones, especially the smaller ones.
