Opinions on Bridge

I've read that the type of bridge one uses will have a certain effect on tone. I'm not sure what that effect would really be, so as an example, these are the two bridges I'm considering for my dual humbucker Tele:

Or the one on this guitar:

What's the difference in how they'll make the guitar sound? And to make it more complicated, if I'm getting the Pearly Gates Plus and SH-1N 59 pickups which say they are 50mm spacing, does that cancel out the Gotoh bridge? It says it has 52.4mm spacing.

I personally think the 2nd example looks best when doing dual humbuckers. I assume they both sound very similar?

I'll agree with ramblinmike on this one. Just my opinion, but I much prefer the look of the second......although search out Pete Galatis pics. He has some dual bucker teles with the first bucker bridge that look very fine. As far as tone, probably doesn't matter much. Do what looks good to you!

I agree with the Strat style hardtail bridge plate choice.

I think the surround plate humbuck style is gigantic to look at; takes real serious finesse to put it on a Tele and have it look just right. Plus, if you really care about the "magic-mojo" or whatever you wanna call it about the Tele bridge pup incorporated into the bridge plate, you best use a slanted, single coil size pup, preferably in a vintage sized plate.

I still have a few HB in the bridge T-types; they're slated to go away as they don't sizzle me no more.

Thanks for the opinions, guys. Does anyone happen to have any pics of a Tele like the one above, but with a pickguard? The body I ordered has room for 3 humbuckers...just in case I wanna add something later.

...so I'm gonna need to cover up the hole in the meantime

I'm thinking that the GE Smith model tailpiece is a good choice. The first time I ever saw this done was when Jeff Beck appeared at the "Secret Policeman's Ball" with Eric Clapton doing "Farther on up the road" back in 1984.

At that appearance he had an old tele with two humbuckers in it, and had the standard 3 saddle tele bridge on it sawed in half to accommodate the HB pickup in the bridge position.

Genius.

My 72 Thinline has the Strat style hardtail piece. Just looks better.
