Squire Standard Tele Pickup question
Does anyone know what "type" of pickups these are? Alnico V or Ceramic? I've got a Standard Tele and I took out the pickups and replaced them with some GFS pickups before even giving a good listen to the pickups a long time ago. Now, I'm looking for more of a low output type sound, playing alot of full chords with a little overdrive, 60% clean mix with 40% overdrive mix from a Sparkle Drive. My hotrail type pups are just too over the top!
Was wondering if it would be better to put the original pickups back in the tele or should I start looking at some type of DiMarzio or Seymour? I don't have the $$$ to drop on a set of custom wound. Thanks, Jeremy Steger Mods, move this to the Pickup forum if it would be better to be there. I wasn't sure where to put this post. |

Give em a listen before you decide. Theyre alnico pickups in the standard model. If you decide to replace check out Bill lawrence keystones, they get a lot of praise around here.

I like the pickups in my Affinity, they can be a little thin, but sometimes that fits my mood.
Bill Lawrence pickups are fantastic and not pricey at all. Tonerider Vintage plus are excellent pickups too, also not pricey. The Toneriders VP's are Clean classic Tele pups and they look correct.
