Another newbie question about a pickguard
i've really been a little slow these days, anyways
i have a question about replacement pickguards, from pictures i've seen there are no screw holes next to the neck pickup for height adjustment, my MIM does have screws, but i e-mailed GFS whom ill be buying a single ply black pickguard from, and they said that there are no holes and the screws go into the wood, bu i dont see how this works without there being a hole in the pickguard can anyone explain?

Some Teles have the neck pickup body mounted ........ some are pickguard mounted. Yours is pickguard mounted. If you get a pickguard without the pickup screw holes, remove the pickup from your current pickguard and lay your current pickguard on top of the new one. Line the pickup holes up and drill through the old pickguard screw holes. Mount the pickup to your new pickguard.
Mounting the pickup to the body requires special wood screws which you probably don't have. Pickguard mounted pickup: Machine screw goes through pickguard .......through rubber tubing or spring and into threaded hole in base of pickup. Body mounted pickup: Wood screw goes through base of pickup...... through rubber tubing or spring and is screwed into the wood. With pickguard mounted pickup, turning the mounting screw clockwise raises the pickup. With body mounted pickup, turning the mounting screw clockwise lowers the pickup.

Lay the pickguards on a piece of scrap wood and use a sharp drill bit.
