I'm loving this....Buck, when you get a spray rig, I'm ordering a turquoise sparkle body with checkerboard binding from you (and maybe a neck w/ matching headstock).

Thank you!

I'm such a vanilla sort of person...I have a W/B/W for it.

It's not buffed out yet...so it is still at Bob the Painter's place...but we wet it down with thinner and took it out in the sunshine today...

WOW!

I hate bragging on my own stuff...but good gosh-a-rooty it sparkles...

and I'm a-thinking that it might look pretty spiffy with B/W/B...

but then I'd have to build another for that W/B/W...can't have anything sitting around going to waste now...can we.

Bucko, that looks awesome! You should be proud of that. I have never seen anything quite like it.

Let us know about your spray rig, if you get one. What are you thinking about getting?

'Bout as purdy as it gets!! Rosewood or Maple? I'm thinking a Maple neck would make that flake POP!

Oh yeah!

Maple neck...matching headstock.

Have I forgotten to post pictures of that?

I'll have to see what is on the camera.

How's this?

My vote's with B/W/B because it would balance the dominance of the black in the binding. And my Fong Shuei book says, in chapter 31:

"When the east wind is balanced by the western fire mode, symbolic of the roaring of the carp, all sparkly melon colored guitars must have non-contrasting pickguards or there will be an imbalance of T'wang Chi."

Im thinking B/W/B will end up with too much black area on the surface.... I think some pearloid or W/B/W COULD be better...

but only one way to find out!

This is gonna be bad...

I didn't even notice this project getting started!

Without a Nudie suit, you'll just be some guy with a watermelon sparkle guitar.

Oh my!

The decals are going on tonight!

You know what that means!

I completely forgot about the decals when I got it home today. I was already to start the final assembly...then I realized the neck had no finish on it. I looked again and saw NO DECALS!

So...you kids are going to have to wait a little longer...

But to paraphrase one of Jerry's (ex)girlfriends...

It's real. And it's spectacular!

Have you heard of the INTERNET? It's a neat thinig!

You meet all sorts of interesting people.

Well...

UPS truck pulls up today.

There was a CARE package onboard from a Melloncaster Project admirer.

I opened it up.

WOW!

Low and behold!

SPARKLES! SPARKLES! and MORE SPARKLES!

I guess I am going to have to build up some more SPARKLECASTERS!

More on this later.

Yup. Now I KNOW you have never seen me!

I would need TWO of those outfits!

Got sucked into work today. No guitar building until later.

Well kids...we're gonna cheat a bit. I hate to do this...but while I was putting this thing together the last couple of days I took around 200 photos! It will take me forever to distill those into something worth your time.

I can string it out and tease you all for the next several days...but I need to get a life and do something else for a few days.

I'll get back to the "How to build a Sparklecaster" soon...I promise.

Tonight I have just completed a marathon 6 hour screw together, cut a nut, photography, and setup session.

I'm bushed.

but

I'm also pretty darn proud.

Back in early June we were here.

To tell you the truth, I wasn't very optimistic...and was just about ready to scrape it all off and try again.

But my friend Bob the Painter gave me some encouragement, you all gave me some tips, Bob the Painter put a bit of his life into it...

and

are you ready for this?

Now...if it just has sounds like it looks!
