How to: Finish Question

How do you think this finish was achieved? And where can I shake this man or woman's hand?

That's a beauty.

My guess is tinted lacquer (aka toner) followed by clear lacquer.

But it's possible the wood was dyed, followed by clear lacquer.

Or both dyeing and toning.

You could try asking in the Finely Finished forum.

yeah, dye the wood with aniline… balance the color with a tinted lacquer….. clear coat….

Stain it black, sand it back and then apply the red stain followed by clear.

Yep. Have had one on my Hamer for a long time now. Very nice - well made, clamps to the studs and toneful.
