you mean that dark straight line? i guess it could be a mineral streak, but i've never seen one that precise before. you should post more pics of the neck where it occurs, since it's really hard to tell what it could be just from that one photo.

This should be better
First, am I correct in assuming this is on the headstock Paul? If so, has it been thinned yet? That does have a bluish haze to it, making a mineral steak unlikely but not impossible. Could you wipe it down with mineral spirits and post another picture? I'm hesitant to say without these facts in hand. One thing I'm pretty sure of...........I'd make a neck out of it anyway

Hmmmm, try brushing on a little Chlorox with an old toothbrush. If it changes color or comes off, it's likely mold

I have tried Clorox and Oxiclean with negative results. So I am starting over on a new neck. This is a bass for a friend and it has to be perfect. The maple may have been a little too bright for this bass.
I have some Walnut and Canary I might try. |
