Strat Wars - Seduced By The Dark Side
Yea , a strat build , Dave was right , thanks to Mark (Guitarnut) and his 4 beautiful hardtail strats I've gone over to the dark side
Got some wood , 2 pieces of pretty plain jane swamp ash , light and good for a color finish , thinking mary kay or sonic blue , a nice piece of flame maple for the neck , either ebony or cocobolo for the fingerboard , maybe a cream black cream pickguard , hardtail all the way , I'll wind some A2 pups with 42 awg ,probably I'll get the pup kits from Stewmac , really liked the sound of Mark's A2 pups , and nickel hardware which I have not yet aquired ![]() Gotta go get my pdf's printed out so I can make neck and body templates , I'll try to get this one finished in less than my usual year long builds Any comments suggestions on the colors , fingerboards , anything , I'm off to Staples

your staples is better than my staples, that's for sure.
about the drawing (as it looks somewhat familiar to me)... here's preeb's call out drawing: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/8286013/_Str...nt%20Fixed.pdf I apparently misread 2 numbers on the fender blueprint scan when I drew it out. 1. distance from neck route to neck p'up route - I misread as 0.464 - preeb has it at 0.484 2. width of trem opening on front - I drew it as 0.657 - preeb marked it as 0.687 though it doesn't really matter if you're going hardtail, eh? you could use a permanently blocked trem. I'm pretty sure those are the only 2 discrepancies. best of luck - and have fun. |

A Telecaster without a Stratocaster is kind of like...well a telecaster is just fine w/o a stratocaster but I bet this is going to be a cool build. It would be the cat's wiskers if you did two, and use both fingerboards!! Do p90s or something overwound with the ebony.
