Say hello to Jackie . . . .

Finally had a chance to complete the pickup setup, and buff out the few places that I missed. . . .but she's finally done!

Thanks to Colt Knight for all the tips on painting, and Ron Kirn's awesome book on Nitrocellulose finishing.

What do you think guys?

It's cool. It looks like it needs a blackguard but the hardware makes up for it

Looks great, looks real pro. I like the angles you have on the neck plate, belly cut, and it kinda looks like a forearm chamfer too. Lacquer looks killer with all black hardware.

Freaky, cue Twilight Zone music.

I have a plan to build one virtually identical; colour, bridge, pickups, Strat type relief cuts the lot.

It's quite strange to see my own idea in front of me like that.

Love it !, but then I would of course.

Love it. Custard-caster?

Would those be active pickups by any chance?

What is that yellow? I'd like to use it too. Reminds me of my first car, which I painted Corvette bright yellow (it was, most assuredly, not a Corvette itself - just the color).

BTW, I just noticed what you did with the neck plate. Pretty cool...

Still waiting for that yellow paint spec, c'mon, I know you're reading this.

Thanks for the comments guys, I really had fun doing this.

The Pickups are EMG (Active) in the Bridge is an 81 HB and the neck is a Strat SA. I'm not that handy with the soldering just yet, but I'm working on it, so the quick connects are perfect for me at this point. I have played EMG's for many years, and they are my pickup of choice personally. I play a lot of heavy riffs and leads, and they fit right into my style of playing.

The paint was simple, something that Colt showed me. It's 14 oz of Sherwin Williams Clear Gloss (T70-C-60)and about 2 oz of ColorTone Liquid Pigment for Lacquer - Yellow of course. I did put 8 Thin coats of white before I shot the yellow - mixed the white in the same proportions. Then I have about 14 coats of Yellow on her.

The finish on this could be sooooooooo much better, but for the fist one, I'm pretty proud. Again I can't thank all of you enough for the tips and help along the way. I really enjoy this forum.

Any chance of a vid or recording to hear how it sounds?

Luke.
