New Tool and Alligator Strap

I needed a punch for strap button holes for my gator strap but did not have the size i wanted, so i drilled out the middle of a little socket

sanded it sharp

wack with the hammer for a really nice hole

after some sewing and riviting

1-1/2" belt, 15"x4" pad with some Dr. Scholl's air cushioned insoles stuffed in there

An absolute necessity. You couldn't play that guitar with anything else.

Soft socket or hard drill bit? Nice innovation, and the strap is beautiful, as is the GatorCaster.

I've sandwiched the strap between 2 bits of ply and drilled through them. It worked, but I like your idea much more. Classy!

I use brass tubing ,the kind sold in model stores .I often use brass tubing for models so have some odd bits hanging around.I select the size I want then sharpen one end from the inside usually by running a sharp knife blade round the inside until its got a fairly sharp end .I use an engineers vice as the brute force and put a piece of softish wood behind the strap so that the brass tubing cuts right through the leather and clears the strap,Some kind of G clamp would also do at a pinch .It works a treat .
Nice straps BTW , look very good Scatters.

I've used shell casings as leather punches, from .22 cal to .45 cal. Worked great.
