LOL Congrats to you too, Phil. I know my wife is pretty relieved that it's finally over. I'm going to need help to get readjusted back into society, though.

Yes , congrats to all , it was a great challenge.
I gotta admit , I am a bit burnt out, getting the build done , going away for a week , getting back and trying to keep up with all the threads , I am just going to sit back for a while and read through the threads and relax a bit

Last year I was pretty burnt and did not go back in the shop for a long time. This year I am going to try to keep the momentum up and bang out some guitars. I have the butternut/spalted tele to finish, a single cut set neck and a strat on order and I have sweet one piece pine body that I am thinking I will put original Gretsch Filtertrons in to see how they stack up to TV Jones.

Congrats to all and a big thank you for all the support and encouragement! Building a guitar is not hard, but to do it well takes the patience of a Zen master and the hands of a watchmaker.

That was exhausting!
I just noticed that I didn't do any real work on the guitar until April 21st and I didn't start the neck until May 9th. No wonder I felt like I was in a hurry... Time to clean this up. :) Congratulations everybody! This has been lots of fun! |

Hey All,
This was great! Am also cooked. Work went intense at the same time so the next week or two will be low key and maybe catch up on some sleep. So when does the voting start? It's driving my OCD nuts to still see the last 4 guys be done but not have the nails in it. It also kills me to see guys like DW, JPB, Moody, Dave and Tiskit not make it over the line. All great guys and interesting builds. Hopefully all will share with us in DIY. The time commitment is substantial and I will be clocking time next year. Morbid curiosity I guess. I'd also like to see some non-prize categories next year like discussed earlier in the threads. Could be big fun. As always, thanks to Paul and crew for facilitating. This is a great community. Cheers, Rob |

Wow Gitlvr, that's awesome you are rockin right on thru. The challenge for sure burnt me out a bit, in fact I was so tired of focusing on my guitar I couldn't even get excited to play it for the video. I think when I snap out of it I'll be like "Hey where did this cool red guitar come from"
A huge congrats to everyone, we should be really proud of the accomplishment, I mean 60 days...seriously, that's not easy to do without compromising detail. There are two guitars from this years challenge that I'm considering pm'ing the builder and asking how much

Hey All,
I think I'll scrub the shop and build a new Herbified pickup winder. Got all the parts already. The next Tele will be the "Mule". It will have easy access panels on the back to facilitate quick bridge, pickup, pot and cap changes for easy sonic evaluation. Got some Douglas Fir body blanks and some maple neck wood hanging around........ Actually, Alder is one of the nicest sounding middle of the road body tone woods. Maybe I'll go there. And hey, when will we know the contest constraints for next year? I'd like to start planning and designing now. Got some whack-a-doo ideas that could be fun. Got a buddy who is a 4th generation dairy farmer. Thinking about grinding up dried cow pies into epoxy for the Cow Pie Caster. Barncaster (Rob) |

I'm unwinding by building a classical. It's a nice change of pace, and I'd already started it before the Challenge. So, minimal withdrawal; I'm still going downstairs pretty often, but I'm learning that classicals involve A LOT of gluing. So I'm waiting around a lot.
I banged out my Challenge build quickly because I wanted to play it so badly; I'd had the parts and most of the ideas sitting around for awhile. It met all my expectations, and I couldn't be happier to be a part of such a tremendous group of gifted builders. I'm still getting caught up on all the threads I missed; the whole things's exhilarating.

Well, I'll definitely take my time with this next one. Won't be banging it out in 60 days, that's for sure. But I love building, so I like to keep something on the bench at all times. Every one I build is better than the last. That's something that doesn't happen with everything I get involved in, so I want to keep moving forward.
