Pickup Flatwork Template

I don't always order the pups before I build a guitar. So, I need to make a dummy pickup so I can fit the bridge, neck and pickguard together before I get the real pups. Does anyone have a pickup template I could use to make the dummy pups?

Tnx,

If you had all the ones I trashed trying to rewind/repair them in the old days, you could use them for templates . Not to be completely useless, check around good, full service music stores, and ask the tech to keep you a few back (that he's going to trash or recycle). If your careful, you can take them apart easily, then there's your templates

Good idea. But just about the only music store left around here is Guitar Center. The best independent music stores slowly went out of business after they arrived. Do they work on guitars??

I did find a drawing off of the Semour Duncan site and adjusted it until it matched the measurements on the drawing.

Made a couple of phone calls...no trashed pickups in the area. Will have to try another route.

Tnx,

WARNING

I'm at work. Forefront installation just detected a Trojan in the file above.

Thanks for the drawing Glen, but I was after something that would print to scale. I want to glue it to a piece of garolite and cut out the flatwork and make a dummy pup.

Those flatwork pieces are pretty cheap. I'll get some the next time I place an order with Stewmac.

Thanks!!

Found a diagram and made a dummy pup out of garolite. Works just great for fine adjustment of the bridge.

Here you go Mojo. As close to scale as I could get it.
