Personal Introduction and question re: potential 1st tele build.

Hi, UK newbie here and glad to be onboard - this is a fantastic forum.

Currently I own a Squier CV vintage blond tele, which is great, however, I feel its had its day and I'm now considering using it for a potential "parts build" pinecaster.
I'm thinking about ordering a custom made neck from a local dealer here in the UK, and changing out the pickups (just for starters) etc etc.
Additionally, I'm also thinking about possibly sanding down the finish and applying true oil to the body to really make it "my own".

Has anybody here on TDPRI done this with a CV tele ? - or what would the implications of this be (if any) ?. I realise there is some debate with regards to pinewood for bodys etc, ....... so, what do you guys think / suggest ?

Haha, yes true and thanks, however...
just a little apprehensive about removing the finish.
It looks like a one piece and up close you can see the grain of the wood which looks very nice indeed.
I'm just wondering if the wood will start misbehaving if i remove the finish - having visions of sap eventually leaking out etc

Obviously my experience / knowledge is somewhat limited.

You could probably buy an unfinished body for what you could sell the Squier one for. I have never done it but the poly can be a pain to strip.
