There is some incredible work here, guys!
jwj, my dad was a full-time taxidermist actually. He went to school in Wisconsin and opened his own shop here in Oklahoma when I was about 6 or so. I couldn't tell you how many hides I've fleshed hehe. fernder, that scenery is VERY impressive! You've got a great artistic eye. As for anything else I make besides guitars? I made these, but I had some help

dean; cool you restore hem old fly rods.. i have a couple of old cane rods i will take to my grave with me built back inm the day. iv built a baja bug from a 68 cali street bug ( yad to yank the ball joint front beam, put in a link pin, yank the swing axle and put in a irs.. typical things you do when building one.. to me building baja bugs is sorta like a big version of building a model.. and since parts are so cheap for them.. expect when you get into hot rodding the engine of course they you have to pay to go fast.... ie.. one windows visor custom interior.. whatever, was cheap fun converting it into a baja bug as iv have had a baja bug in my life since i was 16 as it was my first car sad to say i shattered my left leg and can no longer drive a stick so no more vw love in my life. and the vw auto stick is a joke. heh.. i use to brew beer still have my carboys but iv not really drank much in the last 8 years plus again trying to brew beer in arizona sucked even a hefeweizen was a pain.. the last batch of beer i brewed was a raspberry hefeweizen.. it did tturn out but i had to brew it during two months when the temps stay around 70.. after than its either to cold or way to hot to brew beer and i have no cellar.. well practically no one dose in the desert and the clay is to hard to dig you almost need c4 to blow it up into rumble. its cool to see we all have so much in common.. i guess i should not be surprised. iv been collecting parts to build a t bucket. one day i may get to build one.. time will tell. dad seems interested in helping me get it done step father/son type thing.. he is a retired engineer so he has the cash, i have the energy he wold basically just boss me around and id spend his money if we do the project.. lol.
you guys rock.. and for the guy who makes bread.. now that stuff looks dang tasty, how did you get into that hobbie if i may ask? chris. for got rc airplanes too.. cars not so much.. hell i have experiment in way t9o many hobbies, i always joke all these hobbies will lead up to something special one day.. maybe its guitars. laughs. ok, ill shutup now.. ill read some more hobbies and remember i tried that too.. which would get stupid to try and post or remember all the hobbies iv tried.. i can say i have a curious mind so im interested in everything.. for example my winter project for last winter to was build a full size arcade machine... which i did adn it now has 5000 games on it 32 buttons two spinners and a 4 inch track ball.. the software i used i called mame.. just google and you will get the idea behind it.. and how it saved so many old arcade games from our youth. last post to this thread i promise. chris. |

I build tube amps, effects pedals, pedal boards, and mini amps.
I did not build the Korg Pitchblack or the Marshall footswitch, but I built the tube amp, the pedal board, and the four effects pedals. It's a tube amp of my own design in an old Crate cabinet. I gig with the amp and the bottom three pedals, driven by my modded Tele. ![]() I keep this on my desk as a practice amp. I built the amp, not the 4" Pyle speakers. ![]() I built this practice amp for fun. It's kind of a gimmick, but it works.

A few Homemade projects...
I was a full time bench jeweler and designer, and just in the past few years have turned to wood (no pun intended). Here's a few items I've made in the past year or so.
A small Hackberry bowl; a small Bur Oak Bowl (from a 350 year old historic tree); a large Flame Maple Platter (13.5" diameter); Hummingbird Pendant for my wife and an Art Appreciation class in college. And real piece-de-resistance (French for piece found while bicycling), the Christmas project for my wife. I found all of the elements for this piece while bicycling in AZ, TN, and in a NY gem & mineral show, and melted the silver to form an ingot which I rolled out, cut the gem Chrysacolla, and cut the rough topaz for her. I love re-purposing the things I find - old wood, stones, silver gent's bracelet, etc. I hope you all find happiness in the items you find too; and the people who find you. |

There are some really talented people on here.
I did photography for years and years, but of course 99% of it isn't digital (yet) so I can't share it right now (what I do have is blocked where I am so I can't link to it) I did (help) make 2 beautiful kids, does that count?

I just take an old file, rasp or piece of car road spring, throw it into the log burner for the evening and get it real hot and let it cool slowly to take the hardness out. Cut, grind and file to your hearts desire, then re-harden, temper and polish.
