In progress

Here is a JM I am in the midst of finishing up.
The frets are wide and low and intstalled sideways as per my usual method. It also sports a Mastery bridge and Lollar Jazzmaster pups. The body is a lightweight 2pce swampash with a whitewash blonde finish.
The neck is a stunning birdseye with rosewood fb and my own vintage clay dots.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it's just like Fender used to install frets back in the days:

Thank you and yes its just like Fenders process and Preeb's as well. I dont use the addotional footsystem though. This method ensures youll never get a fret popping up.

Right - Preeb brought this up in his strat build thread and Bill uses a very similar technique and has come up with some new twists; they have posted their techniques for side fret installs in various threads. I don't think they actually use the pulley mechanism - it's not really needed if the hand piece holds the fret well - Bill made his hand piece out or a sanding block. I tried it and liked it, there are some downsides to any technique, and that one takes some practice to get right. There was a long thread on which technique is 'best' - which actually just ends with a bunch of folks agreeing to disagree.... All of my best fret jobs were done with a arbor press.

Doing some searches for these using the google search feature would be a good place to start learning peoples thoughts on this stuff as it's not all in one thread.
