I'm thinking so too. I guess I'll pull out the tools and make a deeper hole before wet sanding anymore. lol:

How about a clear pickguard? I'd rather see all the swirl.

I'm with you. Those pickguards just don't look right and they cover up the nice paint work. How about no guard? Use a trim ring for the neck pickup:

I thought of that. But I'm on an extremely tight schedule for getting this done. Its like a biker build off on the discovery channel where they have 5 days to build it.

I still have to wet sand it and put its innards in, and set it up. No pressure.

I have another swirlcaster I'm going to build after this one and I'm going to take more time with it and I'm definitely going to keep the "no guard" thing in mind. I just need to figure out the colors :-O

I'm thinking
orange and black
orange / yellow
Yellow / red
Orange / red
Lime green / black
Purple / black

The possibilities are endless!!!!!!

Wired it, strung it, set it up and it makes noise!! Plays like a beauty! It was my quickest build from paint to playable in 5 days and plays better than the ones that took me months to do. Go figure that I'm giving it away. Hope my buddy likes it. What do you guys think????

I wonder if you could tape off sections and dip different color swirls on the same body??

I'm sure you could, but the swirls wouldn't match up design and pattern wise.

Fantastic job!
Earlier when you were considering pickguard colors, I was thinking blue pearloid but, the white really makes it jump at the viewer.
Now I'm getting swirl ideas too

And how did you pry it off Boy George?

TELEDUDE84, maybe try the Paisley method of clear pickguard with blue sprayed ring around the neck pickup ring. That would show off the cool paint job better.

I thought of the clear pickguard with a blue ring. Maybe I'll try it on the next one.
