Thanks Muzikp and nblades.
The the center block on the Firebird is maple sandwiched between two pieces of purple heart. The backs of the wings are also purple heart and the tops are curly maple.

I have not glued the wings to the center block yet, mainly because I didn't have a neck for the body yet. Without a working neck I couldn't place the bridge. After I route the neck pocket (hopefully in the next week or two) I'll drill the post holes for the bridge.

on the bench today.. is a good book and a drop of port....

a gift from a mate (customer) ... sweet.... totally unexpected..

I put together a HSH strat out of bits I had here for his son.... (I changed the knobs to black)
He has moved to the city and got a house with his bandmates to give music a go...he needed more oooomph... sure, I can do that...

I did the handover this morning, my mate's the mailman, so I packed the guitar up in a box and waited down by the gate....
as I was showing him the guitar... he hands me a few things... huh?..

a nice Fender guitar book + DVD and a bottle of Brown Bros Port.... way cool..... thanks mate...

Must be a 'noob' or a 'knob' or both, but I actually have no idea what that is

Sidedots for the Pro neck. Finally. Wouldn't you know the camerabatteries gave up right when I had focused on the finished job?

Not actually on the bench yet but I'm working on a design for a swing arm sander that will be powered by my Shopsmith. Inspired by CptRyg's sander.

If it was the first, I'd be feeling pretty good about things.

Awesome! I'd considered taking it 90 degrees off of my rails too. I'm getting ready to build the swing arm part of mine real soon.

Just screwing around with screws today , I needed some slotted screws for bridge mounting , strap buttons , pickguards , control plates and bridge pups , so I ordered stainless steel screws from Mcmaster-Carr . #6 x 1" oval head for bridge and strap buttons , 6-32 x 3/4" for bridge pup mounts , and #4 x 1/2" oval for pickguards , control plates , all 18-8 stainless .

I wanted to see if the heads would polish up a little brighter than they were so I took my dremel and a buffing disk and a little Finesse It II and after a few seconds they are nice and bright , the arrows indicate the polished screws
