Oooh - amps, dials, meters, knobs and leads...makes me weak in the knees. I need a bench like that.

Nice!
Took this out to sand some of the dye back. Sanding is so much fun. (sarcasm on) Going to hit it with some more dye for the next step then sand again but I couldn't resist a mock up for minute. Hoping to have this finally ready to shoot with the other guitars this coming week. Going to be cloud of paint and clear next week!

A good friend of mine sent a nice slab of 8/4 cherry wood, so it's going to be a Tele. I planed it down to 1 1/2" for the sake of weight, and the thickness is quite comfortable for me playing-wise. I grabbed this pic earlier today, since this shot I band-sawed the body and routed out all the cavities. Next will be route the outside of the body and then the neck joint.

Great to see your boy likes to build things. Good stuff!
Well today my boy wanted me to change his strings and do another polish on his guitar I built him for Christmas. So here it is on the bench getting ready for the work. FYI, that was the fastest guitar I have ever built right there. From body blank to the finish to total completion including building the pickup. About 30+ hours combined over 35 days in between other projects. The neck was half done when I started on this. Had it already carved, truss rod installed and boarded. Sorry for the bad pictures, one of these days I am going to have to buy a good camera. ![]() Here's another LP style blue sparkly one mocked up also on the bench today getting the binding scraped for the mad clear coating this week. This is for a friend of mine.

![]() Body blank, mahogany with a walnut stripe. Not sure to leave it as-is or thin it down, chamber it, and put on a top. I have some really nice walnut & cherry to make tops from.

current projects
Have been working on these:
![]() ![]() The tele body is built from yellow pine that was a sub-frame under a furnace that was installed in the early 1950's. The chambered tele-uke is part of a continuing experiment, I finished a solid body a while back and need to figure out proper strings. The top 4 from an XL set tune up much higher tension than I would have guessed. |

A La Cab inspired guitar.....2 pc basswood body routed for a Peavey Ferrite T 15 single coil and Peavey 22 fret Predator neck. Except for the bridge, all parts are made in USA and were here waiting to be assembled into something. Peavey necks are deeper than Fender so the neck cavity had to go lower into the body and it has different screw locations on the neck plate.

I've got a mahogany LP DC body and neck blank that I'm working on for a guy here at work. Should be a fun build. Going to go trans black on it with nickel hardware and cream accents.
