First tele build... A RAINBOW PAISLEY!!!!

i started this build a few weeks ago... and committed the unspeakable... i didnt start a build thread... so now i am! well better late than never.

this build will be have alot of firsts for me.
1. build a body
2. build a neck from hd maple/ cocobolo
3. do a fabric finish (rainbow paisley!!) w/ a hard poly clear coat

the body is made of a pine 2x6 with a plain maple cap.

You know it, I am jealous of your feet and sawdust, no shop in this rental we are in...

But, we looked at a house today and making an offer tomorrow:

Look at the nice building at the back of the property, what would I do in there I wonder...

You are getting me excited with this paisley build talk...

O... I see....

When you said rainbow paisley, I had something in mind that looked absolutely terrible- a rainbow striped pattern with black paisley outlines on it. Yuck.

But what you have picked looks great. Either of those should look awesome. What color are you gonna use for the 'burst sides?

when i wrote that reply i had not read ur thread yet.

where did u get ur poly-cril? what u did with ur finish is exactly what i was planning to do with my project.

do u think it would be possible to put a round over on the body after the fabric was glued on? like a 1/8th round over so nothing to dramatic.

I'd want to test that on a scrap, hate to see a pull and have to start over.

I am not going to do it the same way on the next one.

i glued up some test pieces of the fabric using tightbond finish and trim glue and a clear gel craft glue.

the tightbond seemed to absorb to much into the fabric itself.

the clear gel seemed to have the best adhesion and it didnt seem to soak up into the fabric at all. ( if it did i couldnt tell)
