Building a tele - What parts to choose

I have built a couple of teles before, but now I'm going to build some again, after a few years without building.

I'm making better jigs this time, and will hopefully get a more perfect result.

I'd like to hear what kind of parts you guys favour. I'm thinking about parts like: Bridge/saddles, Tuners, 3-way switch brand (Almost all of my 3-way switches are noisy for some reason!)

Tommy

Hi.
For my bridges I like the Wilkinson WTB3 compensated brass saddle bridge. 3 way switch I just use Fender branded (which I think are Switchcraft?)

Cheers.

I think it's one of those no right answers too question. Personal taste is a big factor after a couple builds you start to favor certain parts. Then budget is a big factor I’ve found some of the cheap hardware is cheap for a reason.

I would recommend an allparts wiring kit as it will come with cloth wire and all of the essentials. Good luck friend

I guess the trick in building a guitar on a budget is to figure
out where the money's best spent.

I'm just a rookie, but for the 2011 build challenge I decided
on a $250 budget and made sure I got good quality
pickups, bridge, and tuners.

I went with the Korean Wilkinson compensated vintage bridge,
Fender vintage tuners (off eBay from The Stratosphere), and
Wylde Keystone pickups.

Gotoh Vintage tuners are my favorite 6 in line tuners. Great product!

Seymour Duncan makes outstanding pickups.

I use CRL switches, and CTS pots. generic brand paddle switches are often noisy, and have awful connections.

As far as bridges and saddles, I typically use Stew Mac vintage guitar plate and stew mac compensated saddles. However, I think Marc Rutters and Glendale make the best comp. saddles.

The Wilkinson bridge/saddle combo is a nice setup if you need to save a buck.

I Like the stewmac pickup kits (SPN 42guage elsewhere), Alpha audio taper pots, Wilkinson bridges. McMaster-Carr Bakelite (garolite), 1018 cold press steel for truss rod components, cattle femur for nuts. I like the lever switches from an ebay seller bezdez. They are well made in South Korea and a good price too.
