I could not be happier with this project.
An absolute joy to play unplugged, and everybody thats tried it amped up is also BLOWN AWAY. Getting mostly Gibby 335 guys to help compare. First commisioned build was for a guy with a really sweet Heritage. Made here in Michigan at the old Gibson factory, (so I'm told). I found a neck profile I'm happy with so have been busy, (on my off time) building molds, mandrels etc. Then I can do some more experiments with toneblocks, wall thickness, neck structure and pickups. I made this guitar stand out of a piece of Oamaru stone. I carved out the guitar shape, then sealed the stone and then lined it with fabric.

Thanks, but it was by no means my idea. It was an adaptation of this guy's instructable.
I was doing some laboring work after the Feb 22 earthquake and we were tearing a whole house full of it down and dumping it, so naturally I grabbed a bit. It's such easy stuff to work with, I used a handsaw to cut the bottom so it's angled back and then just used some old chisels to cut out the guitar's shape. I'm a bit scared to use it still, I don't know how much of an earthquake it'll hold up for |

It would take too much bandwidth for me to comment on individual builds, let me just say there are some beautifully crafted pieces on this thread, whether they be guitars or anything else!!! My hat is off to you guys!

I've assembled many partscasters but I know my limitations. I choose the woods, colors, pickups, etc. but after that I just turn the screwdriver.

Here's a couple of my projects...
The rifle is a 22 rimfire falling block modeled after a Sharps carbine. It started as a barrel blank, a pallet and a bunch of scrap metal. The pistol is a 22 Hornet toggle block and also was made from a barrel blank, pallet material and a bunch of scrap metal. Both guns contain springs made from guitar strings wound over a mandrel on my lathe (to retain some relationship to a guitar build thread |
