American Standard tele body project
Hi,
I'm considering building a frankentele based on a nice American Standard/Series tele body (so it will have the micro-tilt part). I won't be utilising the micro-tilt so will probably just use a blank or 'f' logo'd neckplate on it to cover the hole. I'm guessing there shouldn't be any issue with using a body like this with a neck from say USACG or whatever? Has anybody ever built a tele using this approach? Other option of course is to just buy a US std tele! Any advice welcome! Aaron |

Yep, that's exactly what I did.
http://www.tdpri.com/forum/telecaste...inda-long.html Used a MiM Fender neck, but there won't be a problem using any Fender spec neck. Just remember that your bridge options are limited due to the Am Ser/Std having non-vintage spacing and screw holes. |

That's brilliant - that's almost exactly what I have in mind!
Is that a strat pickup in the neck position? I wasn't sure if a strat pickup would fit, if it does that's a great choice...was tempted to put in an old zebra Dimarzio humbucker I have, or stick a strat pickup in there instead. Cool looking guitar, agree with you on the bridge front...pretty limited choices, although Armadillo Guitars make a nice brass version, pretty sure Calaham (?) do something similar...hmm, time to investigate. |
