Affinity Tele...I only meant to replace 1 pickup.....

So, anyway.....
I acquired a Torino Red Squier Tele through a bizarre series of trades......
Lovely guitar! Honestly, I haven't been this excited about a guitar in my hands since my beloved '64 Jaguar and I parted company 10 years ago! I love everything about this guitar.......EXCEPT for the dead bridge pickup. "No problem" thinks I--I'll put in a new one."

Yeah.

Trying to save money, I found myself on Guitarfetish.com. Got a nice vintage type bridge pickup at a decent price.

AND THEN......
(hell, I'd never even really contemplated the existence of BLACK guitar hardware)

Next thing I know, I've dumped around $200 on goodies. ALL chrome is to be banished. And of course, I ordered the WRONG pickguard--ended up with a guard cut for a P90.

Soooooo......back to Guitarfetish. After much wringing of hands and gnashing of teeth, I settled on a GFS Retrotron Liverpool pup for the neck position.

But despite my request, it came with a WHITE mounting ring. Trying to decide whether to paint it, or leave it white.

Going to attempt to post a picture of the mock up. Any thoughts or opinions?

assembled!

OK, its all back together. Wiring worked out right on the first try.

When I first got this guitar, I wasn't planning on taking it home at the end of my tour. Now, there's NO way I'm leaving it behind!

I like your aesthetic sense there. I have a red body with black bindings I just picked up this week, I have not touched it since 2008. black hardware, and ebony fret board when I ever get around to making the neck. so yeah, from here, you got a looker there

That looks great, I like it a lot! That Retrotron looks good in the neck, kinda on the fence about the white surround but it does highlight the neck pickup...

Still undecided about the white around the Retrotron myself. I'd asked for black, but Guitarfetish doesn't seem to actually read their email. Still might go back and order a black one. It's tolerable for now. I'm really digging the sound out of the Retrotron, though--not exactly what I expected, but it's really growing on me!
