Mod.3 Project

Hi all!
First of all, excuse for my poor english :)

I'm a long-term forum follower, but i never wrote to it -.-

I build 2 guitars for now, following what i found on the forum. Many thanks to Jwells and Buckocaster, your threads was inspiring :)

The first project was a Telecaster, obviously :)
one-piece beech body, maple neck, Duncan Hot Rails at the bridge and Duncan SP90-3 at the neck

The second one was inspired by Rickenbacker 481.
3 piece ash body, maple neck, Lace Alumitone pickup with phase inversion (I love those PU :) )

So, now I'm starting my third project, simply named "Mod.3"

Starting from the tele blueprint (to have correct pocket dimension) , i deeply changed the design of the body. I'm planning to route the control cavities in the back side of the guitar, and to do alsa some carving

I was thinking about Iroko for both the body and the neck, but I never heard about an iroko-neck. Is there any complaint with this kind of wood??
Any other suggestion??

Thanks for all, guys :D

Stefano

No idea about the wood.

But I like the design work. I have been working on similar modifications (on paper). The pickguard is good, I might take some inspiration here...

Notice that the two angles added on the lower and upper horns of the body are a departure from the flowing lines of the Fender family. Just talking, no criticism here.

I know about the angles, but as you can see, this is no more a fender-like guitar :), probably is more similar to a PRS now...

I really like it. Neat and sort of "stubby". Looks very purposeful.

The first guitar I made has a iroko body and neck and it works fine, the neck has stayed straight and it has a lot of sustain.

I think I have heard of the wood, but not in any guitar applications.

Here is a picture of it.

Iroko body and neck, rosewood fingerboard.

I have also made a thinline body from iroko.

Thanks Wolfie.
My wood seems to be a little darker than yours :)

I'm also undecided between a one-piece neck or a rosewood fingerboard..
Do you think iroko is quite strong?

tomorrow I'll start working on the neck

I like the design!!!! The bass side horn reminds me of the Ibanez Pat Methany model, it is very sweet!
