Hardware store has what you need

I'm sure a few period correct buffs would be interested in paying this place a visit....

My Grandfather on my Dad's side had a store like that in Detroit back in the 1920-30's. I still have a few tools from that store in my collection, and Dad has a few of the old wooden drawers and bins. I love places like that; you never know what gold lurks in some hidden box on the back of a shelf.

This a local shop. For local people. There's nothing for you here!

Anyone familiar with BBCs 'League of Gentlemen' will have had a bit of a chuckle (well either that or a shiver...) reading the article.

I love finding those old hardware stores with goodies from the long ago. I went into an older local store on a hunch and found some old Made In USA #3 x 1/2" nickel plated wood screws, bought the box / gross for $5.

All hardware stores looked like that at one time. Now their part of a chain, ten times bigger but manage to have less, knowledge we know the answer to that. But they do have cash register with a satellite link to give you minimum 10min. check out time. Anyway great pictures if I was in there I have to go threw every shelf.

There used to be a great old electronics shop a bit like that in Wellington until about 10 years ago. They had EVERYTHING you could think of, mountains of new old stock. I'll guarantee I could have gotten as much pu wire as I would have ever needed. Radiohead toured here and did a pre concert interview in there, as they bought the place out of their entire stock of coiled guitar leads! Course, now that I'm building guitars, its no longer around..

great pictures I remember a store similar to that when I was growing up. Now most stores basically carry the same stuff. If you've been in one ACE hardware you've been in them all

There is a hardware store like this in Minneapolis somewhere. My sister took me there a few years ago, 2 or 3 floors with stuff all over the place. I can ask her where it was, but I'm sure some of you guys in Minny will know what I'm talking about. It was fun just to walk around and look at the stuff.

My local hardware store is just like that. It's about 500 feet from my house, life is good. They don't even have a credit card machine.

It's been open since 1914. That's 97 years.

A filmmaker is making a documentary about it, called "Nichols: The Last Hardware Store."

You can see the trailer for the documentary here: http://www.thelasthardwarestore.org/Trailer.html
