1/4" Maple face over Pine. Bright or not?

I tried a all maple tele .. It was way to bright with not much warmth at all.
I like the sound of Pine teles.
I am thinking of building a Pine tele with a Birdseye Maple top and maybe back as well.
Will the maple top and/or Back make it sound more like a maple tele or will the sound be more of a pine sound?
Thinking of buying O.C. Duff plankster bridge pickup and tall boy neck pickup.

Are you putting maple on the top and maybe back because
of the appearance? If so, you could consider maple veneer
on the front and back -- it won't affect the sound.

The usual thing is either veneer or some kind of burst finish.

How were you going to finish the body if using a maple top?

I did a 1/4 cap of Shedua with no binding on my latest and really liked how it turned out. I was convinced a binding would be the only way to go, but after seeing it this is what I decided on.

Anyway, does a 1/4" cap of maple or whatever really effect the tone?

I've been thinking of of a partscaster with a mahogany body and a rosewood on mahogany neck. Nothing bright there! I'm wondering if a 1/4" cap would change that.

I like the sound of Pine teles.Me too
I am thinking of building a Pine tele with a Birdseye Maple top and maybe back as well.A maple top would be cool, but I think putting one on the back is going to make the guitar look awkward, and you are adding an uneccessary building and finishing steps
Will the maple top and/or Back make it sound more like a maple tele or will the sound be more of a pine sound? With just a maple top, the sound would be like a pine tele.
Thinking of buying O.C. Duff plankster bridge pickup and tall boy neck pickup.Having installed 3 sets of Planksters, and few other duff pups, I can tell you Duffs pups tend to be on the bright side. I just put a plankster in an eastern white pine tele, and it was fairly bright in the bridge position.[/QUOTE]
