Maybe at the OBO price point. Model 18 is a good gun, but out of production. The repair kit you could need is ~$30. So, at the seller's requested price of $50 (OBO) you are about ~$100 in (including your time and transportation to get to the seller and back and the repair kit). New Binks siphon feed guns are available online at about $185 and up.

What do you intend to paint with the spray gun? If its just guitars, you can buy a new Gravity gun that will work for less.

I'm no expert but that gun looks a little large for guitar painting. Harbor Freight has a variety of decent spray guns in various sizes at low prices. I painted a van with one of their larger guns and it turned out pretty nice if I do say so myself.

what psi is needed to run that gun and do you have a compressor that can run it? Usually with automotive spray guns you need a dual piston compressor. If you are only going to use the gun for guitars, buying aerosol cans from reranch will probably be cheaper.

Binks make some good spray guns. Would I buy this one? No. It is a pretty old model. I doubt it has the needle & aircap combination that is right for spraying wood coatings.

Before my present position, I was a tech service rep for one of the biggest wood coatings companies in North America, so I have used just about every spray gun out there and own about 20 of them. Stay away from the el cheapo Home Depot guns as they don't spray worth a damn. For spraying guitars with stains/dyes and clearcoats your best gun for an inexpensive price is a Graco Finex. They are a small gravity fed HVLP that run for about $200 and atomize MUCH better than the hardware store models out there. Check out http://www.graco.com/Internet/T_PDB....archView/Finex. You can find these at some paint stores. I know in Canada you can get Graco from Sherwin-Williams stores but I don't know about the US.

Most spray guns don't require much PSI at all, you usually put a regulator on them to restrict the airflow coming from the air compressor. Most guns are usually 24-40 PSI, but what is really important is the compressors SCFM, which is the compressors ability to continually supply air without fluctuation.

Ive heard the purple gun thats around $20 is pretty good. Have you used it?

I paid twelve bucks for mine! Worked a helluva lot better than rattle cans, an almost as well as some of my much more expensive spray guns.

But when you buy spray guns, you usually have to buy an inline water seperator, airpressure regulator, and air fittings seperate.

I use the same gun on guitars. I recommend getting two and keeping one just for clear coats.
Personally never used the regulator at the gun technique as the weight at the gun feels unbalanced to me. I just adjust at the tank and fine tune using the control on the gun.
The inline water separator must be used or you are asking for trouble.
They used to go on sale for $10.00, but I haven't seen that price this year.
