Good plans/bad plans

Hello builders, I'm new here, and have a question. I am finishing up a LP build, and I'm interested on starting a telecaster. I have searched the forum for tele plans ,and found one. I'm sure if I continue my search I will find plenty more. Does one plan stand out as being the most accurate over others? I'm interested in a late 50's early 60's build. Thanks

Here's the Terry Downs Telecaster drawing. It is based on a Fender blueprint for a vintage Telecaster.

Thanks, Jack... I was just looking at the tele bodies at guitarfetish. These can't be correct are they? Seems like a good price for the ash body. Any experience with these?

It truely is a case of you get what you pay for. But you can make them work. a lot of guys on the forum buy them because they are cheap.

A while back I bought an ash body that was part of their first-run of bodies. Big mistake. There is no bridge in existence that will fit the string-through holes+bridge pickup route, the control cavity was too narrow and shallow, and the neck pocket corner radius was too large.

I understand that the later runs were better, but I'm done with Guitarfetish. The most charitable thing I can say is that they're optimistic about compatibility and the amount of work you'll need to do.

Yeah, at that price I was wondering... I'll just pattern up and go to the yard and find me a nice piece of swamp ash. I'll feel better about my build anyways. Just thought that price is cheeper than what I could get the material for.

Good man. There's just something about taking some wood planks and turning it into a guitar that is immensely satisfying.

This is a great idea. Hmm...I wonder if the Safe-T Planer would work in the same way - and it has a larger cutting area that a Router bit.
