'Routing' for 'bucker in bridge w/o router

(yes I posted this in another thread, but it died)

I'm thinking of trying to rework my standard bridge route for a humbucker sized opening. I have a Dremel, a power drill, a few chisels and a really (really) hot butter knife.

I am farily competent (lucky) with a Dremel and would have the forgiveness of the large humbucker ready bridge to hide some ugly.

Cost is becoming a factor (I would prefer a pro job but that would have to wait).

Talk me out of it? Mock me? Steak knife better than butter knife?

If you take your time you can use very sharp chisels to remove most of the wood and clean up the rough spots with the dremel. It could be done with the dremel only but you would probably go through bits like Oprha through a box of chocolates.

Surely you can find someone you know with a router? otherwise go really carefully with the dremel and you'll be fine :)

Are you in Morristown NJ?

Take a little trip to see Bill Baker at Dave's Sound in Whippany.

If you're good with a chisel, the answer should be right in front of you. If you're not good with a chisel, I'd think this would be a good way to practice. Keep it sharp, take your time, and it'd be tough to go wrong.

I should photographically document the process.
